Three Ways to Use Essential Oils

1. Topically


 Dilute with your favorite carrier oil or apply ‘neat’ to your skin, either directly at the source of the concern or on the corresponding Vita Flex point on your feet.  vitaflex points

  • Direct application onto the skin is one of the easiest ways to use essential oils.  It is also a highly effective method since essential oils can easily pass through the lipid membranes of cell walls.  They are able to penetrate cells and disperse throughout the body within minutes.  The bottoms of the feet are always a good place to apply oils directly because many nerve endings are found there and the pores of the skin are large.
  • Before you dive right into your oils, it’s always a good idea to test a small area of the skin first.  Try just one oil or blend at a time to give your body an opportunity to respond.
  • The longer essential oils stay in contact with the skin, the more likely the are to be absorbed.  To reduce evaporation and enhance penetration, putting socks on after applying can hCARRIER OILS 1.1elp.
  • Carrier oils extend essential oils when they are applied to a large area, or can help dilute “hot” oils to decrease the likelihood of skin irritation.  When applying essential oils to children, always use a carrier oil.  Here are a few examples of carrier oils:







2. Aromatically


The sense of smell is one of the most powerful senses. Close your eyes and think of your grandmother’s house. You can instantly smell it can’t you? Inhalation is a great way to deliver the oils.  You can use an essential oil diffuser, inhale directly from the bottle, or place a drop in both of your hands and cup over your nose

  • Diffusing essential oils is a perfect way to improve your home, work, or living environment.  Diffusing can purify the air and neutralize mildew, cigarette smoke, pet smells, or other odors as well as protect you and your family from harmful things we breathe in the air.  Diffusing can also help with mood regulation.

To inhale essential oils and benefit aromatically without a diffuser, try the following:

  • Place 2 drops into the palm of your hand; rub clockwise with the other hand.  Cup hands together over the nose and mouth and inhale deeply.
  • Add several drops of an essential oil to a bowl of hot (not boiling) water.  Inhale the vapors that rise from the bowl.  A towel can be placed over the head and bowl to increase the intensity of the vapors.
  • Apply a few drops of essential oil to a cotton ball, tissue, natural-fiber handkerchief, or clay necklace and inahle periodically.

3. Ingestion


Young Living essential oils are so pure you can put a drop in your glass of water for a health and energy boost. You can also use them to flavor your baking with a powerful health boosting punch!

Please keep in mind that not all Young Living essential oils are safe for ingestion, just as not all plants are meant to be ingested. Always refer to the label or your reference guide to see if an oil is safe for ingestion. When ingesting oils, start with one drop of an oil and work up to more so your bodGRAS listy can get used to it. Also, if you choose to take your oil in a capsule, use a carrier oil to fill the capsule after putting the essential oils in. If you add essential oils to water, use a GLASS container. Especially citrus oils, which leach onto toxins and carry the toxins OUT. So, the same oil that will take the toxins from your body and transport them out, will also take the toxins from PLASTIC and transport them out, or rather right ­­into your body. So, always use glass!
