DIY Bath Fizzies

DIY Bath Fizzies

Continuing the fizzy theme…my kids LOVE these! I love them because the scent possibilities are endless. They also make great gifts in a cute jar!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Citric Acid
  • 1 cup Baking Soda
  • 3/4 cup Corn Starch
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • A spray bottle full of water
  • 20 drops of essential oils (we used Grapefruit)
  • Ice cube trays, molds, or a meat-baller to shape them

Sift together the citric acid, baking soda and corn starch (I used a fork to stir). Next stir in the sugar. Spray water with the spray bottle onto the mixture, stirring continuously.  If your mixture starts to fizz, you are spraying too quickly.  This step takes time, go slow to avoid fizzing.  Spray until damp but not too wet (enough it will hold it’s shape if you squeeze it).  Add essential oils and mix with your hands. When it’s moldable, press the mixture firmly into silicone ice cube trays.  Make sure you press into the corners so that the fizzies do not break when you remove them.  Mine usually expand quite a bit while drying, so I only fill about 3/4 with mixture. Let them dry and harden over night. Throw in the tub for bath fizzy fun!

I have these heart shaped molds that are just the right size.
