Lavender-Peppermint Lip Balm

Lavender-Peppermint Lip Balm

Lip balm is surprisingly easy to make at home! This recipe is so nourishing. I love the combo of Lavender and Peppermint together, but you can play with essential oil combinations if you want to experiment! Here’s what you need:

  • 2 T. beeswax pellets
  • 2 T. raw white shea butter (you can use regular shea butter, but it will change the smell/taste of your lip balm)
  • 2 T. coconut oil
  • 15 drops Lavender essential oil
  • 15 drops Peppermint essential oil
  • Empty lip gloss or chapstick containers

Place all ingredients except essential oils into a double boiler and melt over medium heat. (I use a glass measuring cup in a stainless pot and it works fine.) Once the mixture has completely melted, stir in essential oils. Add the essential oils a few drops at a time to determine how much you want in your recipe. Pour the mixture into empty lip balm containers and allow it to set (roughly 30 minutes).

TIP: You can add a tiny bit of your own lipstick if you want to tint the lip balm.  If you want to add color, add at the same time as the essential oils in the recipe.
